Clothing Labels

I have two comments on this question.

Firstly: this symbol does not constitute an instruction; it doesn't mean (as the answer given implies) "this item must be tumble dried". It means it may be tumble dried.

And secondly: this is not science! I defy anyone to give me any authoritative definition of science that can be construed to include clothing care.
